Corridos Mexicanos

BFH history and Objective

The Ballet started as one of the numerous activities the youth group did to keep theyouth active. As they learned more about Mexican folkloric dance, they felt the need tocontinue learning of Mexico's rich heritage and wanted to share their knowledge and talentyear round with a broader audience. With this, the Ballet Folklorico Huehuecoyotl was establishedin 1996 as a non-profit organization under the direction of founder, Julian Hernandez. The Ballets purpose is to learn, promote and share the beauty and culture of Mexico through the art of folkloric dance. Since then the group has learned tremendously about the art of folkloric dance, making several contacts within the Mexican folkloric dance community. The Ballet has promoted and shared the diverse culture of Mexico within their own community by continually learning and preparing new dances from the different regions of Mexico. The Ballet also created a performing children's group in 2000 so that the knowledge gained could be shared and passed onto the younger generations while giving them the opportunity to learn about their heritage and engage in a healthy activity.
